For Transitioning Teachers

Alycia states the following:

"As a transitioning teacher, I have tried to source as many resources as possible. LinkedIn Learning has been a great source for a variety of courses. I have been able to complete a variety of courses and then post my certificates to my LinkedIn page. When signing up for LinkedIn Learning, I read that many libraries have a subscription, allowing library patrons to access it for free. Unfortunately, my library does not subscribe to LinkedIn Learning. After searching, I was able to find that the Fairfax County Public Library in Virginia does provide patrons with access to LinkedIn Learning and has non-resident library cards. I was able to sign up for a non-resident library card for $27 annually and can now access LinkedIn Learning.

When I am in the car or doing chores, I try to put on a podcast. There are some really great Instructional Design podcasts out there. My current favorite is Share Whatcha Learned by Amy Petricek. Amy interviews learning professionals in the field and they share their expertise. I find the conversations really interesting and there is so much variety in what people bring to the table to discuss.

I have also found that the free content on The Training Learning and Development Community (TLDC) has been very valuable. They often host virtual conferences that you can sign up for. Over the summer I watched their The Accessible and Inclusive Design Conference 2023 and learned a great deal about accessibility for eLearning. If you are on their mailing list, you can access a free ticket if there is space. Their YouTube channel also has recorded videos of past events."
