How People Process Information

Shuba contributed the following - more on the idea of "learning styles" and preferences, the first in quotes because it's been thoroughly documented as being a myth (see the post below on "Learning Styles").

"The more senses we involve, the better it is for a learner to learn and to retain so when it comes to point of application the subconscious puts together resources to create the product. The job aid/cheat sheet can help working memory. Though the  most commonly touted "learning styles" are visual, auditory, kinesthetic or a combination of these there are other factors here that help learners process information. For example, there is sequential versus global: sequential learners want to know the procedures first and big picture later, whereas global learners want the big picture first and then zoom into the procedures. These processes tend to be self reported which is a good starting point."
