"In the conversation around who should be involved in building e-learning content, the Instructional Designer is often at the mercy of the requestor about who they may work with to develop the course content. Often the ID is tasked with designing the content with the assistance of supervisors, managers or subject matter experts rather then having access to the actual end-users who will put this learning into play.
Articulate guru, Tom Kuhlmann recently posted an article that outlined four different ways to leverage your learners involvement in the development process to produce a more successful outcome. Interviews, observation, drafting rapid prototypes and running pilot sessions are all techniques that an ID can employ to produce outputs that hit closer to the mark for the learners. To read more about Tom's suggested approaches and some addition links, follow the link to read more."
