Common Misconceptions

A stick figure of a middle school teacher holding a laptop speaking to her students, "Okay, middle school students, it's the first Tuesday in February. This means that by law and custom, we must spend the morning reading through the wikipedia article List of Common Misconceptions, so you can spend the rest of your lives being a little less wrong. The guests at every party you'll ever attend thank us in advance."

Alisa contributed the following:

"I thought this cartoon was pretty funny and what was even funnier was that I immediately started to brainstorm ways to make this fictitious middle school assignment more engaging for the learners! Instead of just reading the Wikipedia list, what if students are encouraged to research a topic and contribute to Wikipedia's open system directly? This gives students more ownership over the content on the page and hopefully will lead to more engagement.

Do you have any other ideas for how to make this middle school assignment even better?

For those that are curious this page actually exists, link here."
