On Student Motivation

Deborah submitted this article from a free online course by Dr. Ray Jiminez, PhD on "How to be the 'Super Motivator' Webinar and Virtual Presenter."

"Here's what I saw and learned:
Ray Jimenez provides a very good example in this webinar of how to bring your learners into participating by asking questions and commenting on the learners responses. He consolidates comments together and points to the correct conclusions the learners are making. The power of this wasn't immediately obvious, but the effectiveness of his connecting to the students snuck up on me and I could feel a good connection with this online instructor.

He said, 'The biggest way to engage students is to make the course relevant to them.'  So it may look from the course title that this is about being a presenter but really it's more about motivating students. And a surprising way to make a course relevant is to put the learner into the story where they can use their knowledge in the context of the situation you present as an instructor. Definitely worth an hour of your time, and it's free!"
