Learning Experience Design vs. Instructional Design Webinar

This just in from Lillian:

Click the link below to the recording of a webinar taught by Marty Rosenheck, PhD. He defines Learning Experience Design: 'The learner centered process of facilitating the learning and application of knowledge and skills (expertise, proficiency) by providing a set of learning activities (formal, informal, experiential) supported by content, feedback and technology.'

He views instructional design as a subset of a more comprehensive process. This webinar includes an overview of the cognitive science of learning to provide insight about how 'we actively construct our knowledge and skills through experience.' This can be used to informs the design of the learning experience. I am interested to know how broadly these ideas are being applied in the field.
