Scenario Based Training

Lauren submitted the following:

"I frequently refer to the eLearning Industry website to guide me in all things eLearning. I am a learning as you go ID. In addition, developing full eLearning modules, lately, I have also been a content creator for ILT courses and programs. With the current COVID-19 situation, we are now also taking those ILT course online with virtual classrooms. One thing that has helped me in creating seamless transitions of content across all methods of training has been the use of scenarios.

The above article focuses on why learners 'prefer' the scenario-based training. Scenarios can easily be used with any training method allowing your learners to receive the same message and experience no matter how they are learning; synchronous or asynchronous and online or in-person.

A scenario can be created or delivered in different ways. For ILT session we create the scenarios as a role playing activity. For the Virtual session of the same classes we modify the scenario activity in one of several ways. And then the same scenario is used in an eLearning module by developing the interaction with an authoring tool.

Using scenarios help my organization certify that all learners receive the same message, apply or practice that message, and they help learners stay engaged."
